LOUIE'S HUWE INAUGURAL GALA: JANUARY 2024

Louie’s Huwe held a fundraising Gala on 20 January 2024 at Potomac Point Winery, Virginia, USA. The goal of the Louie’s HUWE 1 in a Million Gala was to raise $250,000 to fund Seattle Children’s Hospital in their identification of a genetically targeted pharmaceutical designed to alleviate the symptoms of HUWE1-related disorders, primarily epilepsy.
About the event
Louie’s HUWE 1 in a Million Wine and Dine Me Gala was held at Potomac Point Winery in Stafford, Virginia, on 20 January 2024. A wine tasting themed reception started the festivities with wines offered by Potomac Point Winery and local brewmasters providing samples of the best local wine and beers in Virginia. The reception also hosted a silent auction benefiting Louie’s HUWE.
During a formal sit down dinner created by Potomac Point Winery award-winning chefs, Impact Auctions will led us through a wide selection of must-have prized items with all proceeds benefiting Louie’s HUWE and our HUWE1 families. After dinner, guests enjoyed an evening of live music and dancing!
Louie’s HUWE took sponsorships for the event - see details below. These children and their families desperately need a solution that can alleviate the more severe symptoms of this gene variation associated with epilepsy. Event sponsorship was critical in helping in the research for alleviating the suffering of HUWE1 children.

People with HUWE1-related disorder are affected by mutations in the HUWE1 gene and have intellectual disability, epilepsy, and display autistic features as well as other medical issues.
Many children diagnosed with HUWE1 genetic variants experience intense, regular seizures, which can be one of the biggest challenges for families to manage. Others live life nonverbal, with significant intellectual disability or an autism diagnosis. One of the most dangerous features of this genetic disorder are the severe epileptic bouts individuals experience. Children and adults with HUWE1-related genetic conditions desperately need treatment options for severe epilepsy and other neurological symptoms. With your support, the Louie's HUWE 1 in a Million Gala aims to raise the funds to undertake essential genetic research to identify treatments to improve and save lives.
